South-African Bridal Shoot

South-African-Shoot-20

I’m not always the most patriotic person, I emigrated to the UK after all, but it’s shoots like this that make me proud of all the talent that comes from my home country. The shoot was orchestrated by Gwenda Jeffs from The Vintage Floral Design Company ,who happens to be British, but our photographer Kat Forsyth, model Heline Bekker, baker Renza Vermeulen and myself, are all South African.

Heline is usually more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it, but she was the perfect choice to model the gorgeously structured gowns from Curves & Couture. Along with the accessories from Mapenzi Gems, the look was eclectic, but still traditional – typically South African then.

Our location reminded me of the wheat fields around Malmesbury in the Western Cape, only the gloomy sky indicating that we might be in the UK – but the wind levels were certainly equal to the Black South-Eastern, as I had to go running after a flyaway veil that escaped over a house and into the middle of the wheat field.
